Hawaii is more than pleasant weather, beautiful beaches, and lush tropical vegetation; it is a place with a unique and diverse culture, rich in multiple ethnic groups. It may be as close to the foreign mission field as possible, without leaving the United States. It takes a special kind of person to minister through teaching in Hawaii; perhaps you are that sort of person?
Our school is looking for individuals who have the “heart of a missionary” and are “qualified to teach” at the elementary and secondary level. The “heart of a missionary” because it is not uncommon to have eight or more ethnic groups in one class and being able to love them across cultural differences requires a special sort of person. “Qualified to teach” because we are committed to doing well in all things. Therefore, we want teachers who have been gifted and called by God to teach, but who also have committed themselves to developing their gift of teaching.
Ko’olau Baptist Academy is an important ministry of Ko’olau Baptist Church. The church is named after the beautiful Ko’olau mountain range that rises up majestically behind the church. Ko’olau Baptist Church is an independent, fundamental, Baptist church that was started by missionaries in 1965. The church is located on nearly 2.5 acres of land in the city of Kaneohe. The church has been self-supporting since 1980 and supports over 64 missionaries around the world.
Our school mission is to help the families of our church and other like-minded families who desire a distinctly Christian education for their children (Matthew 28:19-20; Ephesians 4:12-14). From a Bible-based, Christ-centered approach to education we seek the mental, physical, social, and spiritual development of every student in order that every student might please Jesus Christ with his whole life (II Timothy 3:16-17; Luke 2:52; Romans 12:1-2).
